My first attempt at 3D
This was my first foray into any kind of 3D/modelling work. My main practice is audio, and I dabble at 2D pixel art. I found it really enjoyable overall, I think the tool that Johan has created is outrageously fun and accessible, and I love the creative limitations introduced by the nature of the simplicity.
The main challenge I experienced with this model was that the 3 card faces I had designed didn't fit cleanly on the 128 x 128 texture limit (each card was 52 x 78 each). My first attempt at a solution was to rotate the third card (Agumon) and place it along the bottom, however I realised that the bottom 8 rows were removed upon import to make room for the PicoCAD UI. In the end I actually had to split the Agumon card into 2 separate meshes and apply the textures in a split way to then push them together and give the illusion of a single card. This kind of problem-solving was what I enjoyed most about working with a tool like this.
